Which Photo Booth Is Right forYour Celebration?
Choosing the right photo booth isn't just about technology. It's about creating an experience your guests will remember.
Every booth creates memories differently. This guide compares today's most popular photo booth experiences so you can confidently choose the one that's right for your event.
There is no universally bestphoto booth.
Different events have different goals. The booth that makes a wedding feel effortless is not always the one that makes a festival run smoothly. Start with what you want the night to feel like, then work backward.
- Event style
- Formal, elegant, playful or high-energy — the booth should match the room.
- Guest interaction
- Some booths invite guests to linger; others move a long line quickly.
- Keepsake value
- A printed photo goes home on a fridge. A video lives on a phone.
- Entertainment
- Consider whether the booth is a station or part of the entertainment itself.
- Space requirements
- Venue footprint, ceiling height and power access all shape the options.
- Budget
- Every booth type has a range. The right one is the one that fits the goal.
- Overall experience
- Guests remember how the moment felt long after the photo is taken.
Quick comparison
A side-by-side look at how each experience works. Every booth on this list can create a wonderful night — the differences are in what your guests take home.

What aboutAI photo booths?
AI photo transformations can create impressive results. But when you're comparing photo booth experiences for a live event, there's another question worth asking: what does the technology require in order to work?
Many AI transformation workflows rely on cloud-based processing. That can mean a guest's photograph must be captured, transmitted over the internet, received by a remote processing service, transformed, transmitted back and delivered to the guest.
Those are additional steps between taking the photograph and receiving the finished result. At a live event, those steps can depend on connectivity outside the photo booth provider's direct control.
Internet-assisted vs.internet-dependent
Two experiences can both use the internet and still behave very differently when the connection disappears. The distinction matters at a live event.
- Internet-assisted
- The Fun Frame uses internet-connected services. Connectivity can support digital sharing, digital delivery, syncing and other connected event services. It is genuinely useful to our workflow — and we don't claim to operate entirely offline. But the core photography experience does not depend on it.
- Internet-dependent
- An internet-dependent experience requires connectivity for an essential part of the guest experience to function. Cloud-based AI transformations can fall into this category when photographs must be uploaded and remotely processed before the finished result can be returned.
What happens when connectivityis interrupted?
The practical difference becomes clear at the moment a venue's internet drops.
Photography can continue
Guests can keep taking photographs. The core experience does not stop when the internet does.
Printing can continue
When printing is included in your experience, local printing keeps working without internet connectivity.
Connected services may be delayed
Features that genuinely require the internet, such as certain digital sharing and delivery functions, simply wait until connectivity returns.
An internet outage is never invisible — connected features may pause. The accurate distinction is this: a connectivity problem does not automatically have to become a photography problem.
Doesn't a hotspotsolve that?
A cellular hotspot can provide useful event connectivity — sometimes excellent connectivity. It does not eliminate the underlying dependency on a network.
- Cellular coverage at the venue
- Signal penetration inside the building
- Building construction
- Carrier availability
- Network congestion
- Available upload bandwidth
- Latency
- Temporary network degradation
A hotspot may perform extremely well at a particular event, and it can absolutely support an AI transformation. The issue is not whether it can work — it is whether a live guest experience should depend on that connection maintaining sufficient performance all evening, while guests are actively waiting.
The experience comes first. The technology serves it.
We don't choose event experiences based on being first to market, technology trends, novelty, competitor offerings, feature count or marketing buzz. We ask one question: does this make the experience better for our client and their guests?
AI transformations can be impressive. They can also introduce additional processing and connectivity dependencies into a live event. For our current event experiences, The Fun Frame has chosen not to make AI photo transformations part of the offering. That is an intentional client-experience decision — not a statement about what anyone else should do.
We don't add technology simply because we can. We use technology when it makes the experience better.
What we prioritize instead
The things that actually shape how the night feels — and what your guests remember.
Presentation
How the complete experience looks and feels inside your event. The equipment is only one component — the complete presentation matters.
Personalization
The experience should feel connected to your celebration, your organization, your theme, your colors, your occasion.
Interaction
The guest experience should be intuitive, enjoyable and appropriate for the event.
Image quality
The finished photographs matter more than a long list of technical features.
Keepsakes
When printing is included, guests leave the event with a physical photograph in hand.
Reliability
The core photography experience avoids unnecessary dependencies that can interrupt guest participation.

Technology, weighed by the experience
How The Fun Frame approaches each consideration — and the question worth asking any provider you're considering.

- Core photography can continue without internet
- Can guests still take photos if connectivity is interrupted?
- Printing
- Local printing can continue when included
- Does printing depend on cloud processing?
- Connected features
- Internet is used where appropriate
- Which features become unavailable without connectivity?
- AI transformations
- Not part of the current event offering
- Does AI processing require a cloud connection?
- Hotspot
- Useful connectivity tool, not a network guarantee
- What happens if cellular performance changes?
- Technology decisions
- Experience first
- Does the technology meaningfully improve the guest experience?
- Reliability
- Avoid unnecessary dependencies in the core workflow

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Mirror Booth and a 360 Booth?
A Mirror Booth is a full-length interactive photo experience that produces instant 4x6 prints and digital copies. A 360 Booth is a rotating video platform that produces short slow-motion videos for sharing. One is built around printed keepsakes and guided interaction; the other is built around motion and social content.
Which photo booth is best for weddings?
Most couples choose a Mirror Booth. It looks elegant in a reception space, guests leave with a printed photo, and the artwork can be designed to match the rest of the wedding. A 360 Booth is a strong addition when the celebration leans energetic.
Are Mirror Booths worth it?
They are when printed keepsakes and a guided, elegant guest experience matter to you. If your priority is short-form video for social media, a 360 Booth may serve the event better. Neither is better in general — they simply create memories differently.
Which booth prints photos?
Mirror Booths, Open-Air Booths and Enclosed Booths print on site. 360 Booths and Roaming Booths are digital-first, and Salsa Booths can be configured either way.
Which booth is best for corporate events?
A Mirror Booth or an Open-Air Booth. Both offer clear branding on the screen, the prints and the digital gallery, and both keep a professional pace with an attendant on site.
How much space is required?
A Mirror Booth typically needs about a 10x10 area with access to a standard outlet. A 360 Booth needs more clearance for the rotating arm, while Salsa and Roaming Booths need very little space. We confirm the footprint with your venue before the event.
Can every booth be customized?
Most booths allow a template or overlay to be customized. The Fun Frame goes further: your Mirror Booth experience receives a One-of-One Event Identity™ — original artwork, typography, welcome screen, prints and gallery designed for your celebration and never reused.
Which booth works best for children?
Open-Air and Mirror Booths work well because an attendant can guide small groups and the photo prints immediately. Enclosed booths can feel cramped for younger guests.
Do I need an attendant?
We recommend one, and every Fun Frame experience includes a professional attendant. They greet guests, guide the experience, keep the line comfortable and handle prints so nothing interrupts your event.
